» ANNUAL EVENTS

Welcome Back Step Show
This is a mini-exhibition step show that takes place on the Monday before school starts. Fall quarter, at the amphitheater. This event gives organizations and sororities an opportunity to represent themselves, and showcase their stepping talents. This exciting social event allows a lot of freshmen, and other class ranks an opportunity to meet and greet different organizations, and make new friends.

Open- Mic Night
The Open-Mic Night takes place the first day of school (Wednesday of fall quarter) at the Frank W. Hale Black Cultural Center. At this event you’ll hear some poetry, singing, see some dancing, and other types of entertaining performances. Food is provided during intermission.

Mid-Night Breakfast
This is one of our biggest events each quarter. This is the time to come enjoy a delicious breakfast meal prepared by the Iotas. The food is free, and open to everyone. It starts at 12:00 Midnight, on the Saturday before finals week, and last until 3:00 a.m. This event takes place at The Frank W. Hale Black Cultural Center.

M.L.K. March
The Men of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Incorporated started a march from the Frank W. Hale Black Cultural Center, that ends Downtown. This event takes place on the early afternoon on M.L.K. Holiday. This march is a great legacy, and will continue to grow bigger and bigger every year. We want students, as well as the Columbus Community, to look at this holiday as "A Day On, Not A Day Off." The Dream is Still Alive.

Haunted House Trip
Before Halloween we provide free transportation to a haunted house in Columbus. Buses or vans usually leave from the Frank W. Hale Black Cultural Center. We pay for the buses, but you must pay for your admission ticket.

Swim Party
During spring quarter, before the Heritage Festival, we throw a swim party at Larkin’s Hall, or the Columbus Swim Center. This event is always fun, because it’s something different and is inexpensive.

Clothing Drive
We pick one month out of the school year to collect clothing; at the end of the month, we donate the clothing to a local homeless shelter.

Adopt-A-Family for Thanksgiving and Christmas
During the months of November, we collect canned goods, and other perishable items which are used to make Thanksgiving baskets. We also give several turkeys to needy families in Columbus, Ohio. In December we provide Christmas dinners as well as gifts to needy families in Columbus, Ohio.

Resume/Interview Workshop
This workshop is broken up into 2 sections. The first section focuses on the good and bad ways to formulate a professional resume. You can actually bring your resume to the workshop to make necessary corrections before you leave. The purpose of the workshop is to help students put together a resume that will make themselves more marketable in the job field.

The interview workshop is developed to give students professional advice on how to conduct a successful interview. Sometimes we need to know what to say, what clothing is appropriate, and other professional skills that might help us get the job over the next man, or woman.

Final Friday
This is an end of the quarter party that is held the last Friday of regularly scheduled classes. This event is usually held at The Ohio Union Ballrooms, but may be held at other local venues close to campus.
